MAYAH delivers its IP Audio Codec for the new recording studio of the St. Petersburg Philharmonia

Munich, 23 March 2009: Leading German manufacturer of audio codecs MAYAH Communications shipped its newest IP Audio Codec from the C11 product family for the new recording studio of the St. Petersburg Philharmonia. The studio has been constructed by renowned Russian audio & video system integrator I.S.P.A.-Engineering. C1130 from MAYAH with apt-X/Eapt-X option for high audio quality and “zero delay” will take care of possible IP or Internet-based live transmissions from or via the studio.

This is a big step forward for St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, the most famous location for classical music concerts in the city. According to I.S.P.A., previously every recording in this unique concert hall had to be realized by remote vans or other mobile units. Now, when sound engineers have a permanent working environment, much higher production quality can be guaranteed.

The comparatively expensive project based on the state-of-the-art equipment has been financed by a special grant from St. Petersburg Cultural Investment Facility and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The studio has been placed in capacious rooms in a choir area. It consists of a control room, recording area and a server room for audio and video archive. MAYAH C1130 Audio Codec will be sitting on top of a comprehensive installation providing the audio to the world outside for live broadcasting or monitoring purposes. The core of the studio includes Solid State Logic AWS-900+ console, Pyramix DAW system, Bowers & Wilkins 802D monitors, as well as an impressive choice of microphones with various models from Neumann, Schoeps, DPA, Sennheiser to name just a few.
